Gallegos in
on Highway 39, 26 miles from Mosquero.
It is an old settlement: the former Rincon Colorado. Its
church was on the ranch of N.T. Baca, formerly the Gallegos
family. The old church pictured here with the people and
Father Lammert
was replace in 1914 with a fine edifice built of red sand
stone from the hill just south of Gallegos. The church has
a fine altar with a large statue of the Blessed Virgin Mary
who's Feast of the Assumption is the patron feast of the
church.
