Levi
Garcia
(July 25, 1933—June 27, 2007)
Levi Garcia was born and raised in Garita, New Mexico.
Levi and his wife Confie moved their family to
Roy in 1969 when he was transferred to Chicosa Lake.
Levi retired from the
New Mexico State Parks
and Recreation after 37 years as a park superintendent.
He was a lifetime Catholic, a
member to many rodeo and team roping associations, and a past member of
the Harding County
Fair Board.
Throughout his life Levi was a rancher and
exceptional team roper. He
was an extremely positive person who lived his life by simple standards.
Treat all people with the same respect and dignity that you want
in return. Levi was kind,
patient and understanding.
He always had time to listen and really cared to hear what others had to
say. His life was one of
great success as a husband, father, grandfather and competitor.
Levi won over 152 saddles, 2 trucks, 7 trailers and 300 buckles
in rodeo events. In The United States
Team Roping Association Levi was known as “The Legend.”
Levi loved God, his family and his
friends. Nothing could put
a smile on his fast faster than hearing his grandkids call him “Papo.”
His advice to young and old was to never give up, think positive
and continue to improve yourself in all areas of your life.
Always fix your thoughts on what is true, honorable and good.
Above all else keep your eyes on God.
Levi is loved and missed every single day.
