The 3rd season of the Solano Starlight Ballroom
will soon be under way.
Whoopee!
I've been havin' folks ask;
when the dances will be starting, who's gonna be playin' and so
forth. So, I thought I'd give you an update. Get out your calendar
and mark down these dates. You don't want to miss a one.
Our first dance will be
June 27th
Halden Wofford and the
HiBeams will be playing. Now, if you know this group, I know you'll
be here and if you don't, you really have to make it. Wofford’s
distinctive vocals create a sound that is familiar yet purely
original. The HiBeams are just as excited about being here, as we
are to have them.
Cookin' for us this night
will be Jack & Jill Chatfield. They'll be cookin' up one of their
scrumptious Steak Dinners.
A night not to miss!
Dance number two is July
25th.
George & the Bullfrogs,
whoops, I mean George Bullfrog & the Turquoise Trailers is the band.
Ya'll know George and the boys and they are a great talent to have
back at the "Ballroom". George puts out a good sound that is vintage
country and swing.
Lee Daniels and his
overflowing plate of Brisket and all the trimmings will be our
caterer.
Are you getting all this?
The third dance at the
"Ballroom" is August 29th.
We are happy to bring over
from Canadian, TX., Lonny Cox and Night Life, featuring
Jimmy Young
on fiddle. These guys just get on the stage and play, and play, and
play. We think you're really gonna like em'.
Cookin' will be the folks
from Martha's Cafe, servin' up your choice of Crazy Taco's or
Enchilada's.
there's more.....
We won't be having a
September Dance, just seemed to be too late in the year for folks.
But, there is,
Solanofest V! That will be on September 19th.
What's Solanofest you might ask. Good question.
Solanofest is a celebration....
A celebration of our
Western Heritage and Lifestyle, A Fall Festival, you might say our
burning of Zozobra.
Besides having a Dutch oven
cook-off, there are two bands that play all afternoon for your
listening and dancing
pleasure.
We are happy to be bringing
back Texas Stardust from Lubbock, TX. This group features the Bohn
sisters as well as Kalli Burk on fiddle, that's right THREE fiddles
along with guitar, bass and drums. A real treat!
Also performing will be one
on Northern New Mexico's premier groups The Rifters.
It should be a great
afternoon of music. So, that's the short scoop on music this summer
in "the Big Empty".
But, before I let you go
....you have to know about a couple other acts that haven't played
in Solano.....yet. In the
Santa Fe area keep your ears open and eye's peeled for
Matty
Charles. I had the opportunity to see him at the Tin Star. A real
treat! Writes his own stuff, plays guitar and sings. Hope to have
his CD's in our forthcoming catalog.
Then June 4th at the Santa
Fe Brewing Co., the Belleville Outfit. If you haven't seen this
group yet, do yourself a favor. They will also be playing the Rio
Grande Zoo in ABQ, on June 5th.
Looking forward to seeing
you this summer.
