Movie being Filmed in Roy, NM

Roy will be the site for several scenes being filmed for the upcoming movie "Did you hear about the Morgans?" starring Hugh Grant, Sarah Jessica Parker, Sam Elliot, Mary Steenburgen and Wilfred Brimley

The town in the movie will be called Ray, Wyoming so several of the signs in town had to be changed.  They will be put back before everyone leaves.

Roy was chosen because of the town represented the home-town feel the company was looking for.  Roy and Harding County reflect the characters of the movie, namely county people with good family values.  It seemed like all of Harding County showed up for the casting call.  There were small children and our "over 90" crowd.  One of the scenes include a Bingo game, which is very popular here.

Many of the local Harding County residents have been hired as extras in the move.  Many also travelled to Galisteo, NM for a week long rodeo shoot.  There was also a dance scene that many Harding County residents will be in.

There have been between 100-125 members of the crew in Roy.  They have spruced up the existing storefronts and even created a few businesses we didn't have by constructing false fronts and painting them to look like the real thing.  It is a very interesting process and very impressive the way everything works together.

The film is expected to be released in December 2009.
