Old Photos of Roy Rememberances of Roy
REMEMBER ... ?

Get comfortable...relax...put on some soft music...close your eyes...and view the past. You'll be amazed at the images that  come to mind...things you haven't thought about in years. Chances are, some of the items below will trigger others in your own mind.

REMEMBER...early morning coffee at Roy Sundries, with Gene and Mae Nucci's fantastic cinnamon rolls?

REMEMBER...going behind the fountain there and fixing your own drink?

REMEMBER...Dorothy Gilliam's cheeseburgers and Ollie Davis' long red nails?

REMEMBER...the friendly dobermans that  greeted you  at City Market's door?
What were their names?  Was one 'Angela'?  And why do I remember that?

REMEMBER...being able to purchase just about anything at City market?

REMEMBER...having your hair cut by Wyman Madole in the local barber shop?

REMEMBER...the awful T.V. reception in the early seventies? (and before)

REMEMBER...going to movies at the Mesa Theater?

REMEMBER...the building date at the top of the Harding County High School?

REMEMBER...Gilbert Gonzales? What a great principal! He always left me feeling that everything was gonna be okay.

REMEMBER...what a great public speaker Alberta "Skeets" Mackey is?  She gave a commencment address that just 'blew me away'......I wish I had a copy of it, but I don't think it was even written down.

REMEMBER...the Christmas tree in the town triangle?

REMEMBER...going to programs and plays in the old gym? It always seemed that the whole town turned out for any school event.

REMEMBER...playing bingo in the school cafeteria?

REMEMBER...the smell of Homecoming mums?

REMEMBER...the prom?  Remember your date?

REMEMBER...getting gas at the Phillips 66 station when  gas was much cheaper than it is now? I know we had another station, but I only had a Phillips credit card.

REMEMBER...the lunchtime volleyball games 'just for fun' during the school year?

REMEMBER...how professional the basketball team looked in its jerseys?  I just can't get used to the baggy legged things they wear nowadays. My generation gap is showing.

REMEMBER...fishing and hiking in the Canadian river canyon?

REMEMBER...the slogan on the side of Alan Floersheim's delivery van? If you do, email me.

REMEMBER...those really cold winter days that would freeze your water and sewer lines?

REMEMBER...the chopped sirloin steak at the Payton Place Cafe?

REMEMBER...the shuffleboard machine in Rigoni's Bar?

REMEMBER...when baseball caps were always worn with the bill facing forward?

REMEMBER...how the meadowlarks would fly up from the barditch as you drove down the highway...and how you just couldn't keep from hitting some of them.

REMEMBER...the long school bus rides? (those of you that lived considerable distances from town)

REMEMBER...the homecoming parades and all the hard work that went into the wonderful  floats?

REMEMBER...the dedication ceremonies at Chicosa Lake? I remember that our band played a few numbers.

   JACK MAIN
THIS PICTURE OF MYSELF AND MARTHA MYERS WAS TAKEN AROUND 1948 OR 49, THE BURRO I AM RIDING WAS CAPTURED FROM A WILD HERD FROM BELOW DAVID HILL BY BOB BLAIR AND GIVEN TO BUCK MAIN.  HE WAS ON THE RANCH FOR YEARS AND I USED HIM TO CLOWN AT THE FFA RODEOS HELD IN ROY.  HE WAS WELL KNOWN IN HARDING COUNTY WHERE I USED TO DRIVE HIM AROUND WITH A SULKY MADE FROM AN OLD PLOW.  I THINK HE CRAPED ON EVERY SIDEWALK IN TOWN.
