Solano Manufacturing Breaks Ground on Metal Fab Facility in New Mexico

Solano Manufacturing recently broke ground on a metal fabrication shop to be located seven miles north of Mosquero in Harding County. Historically a ranching community, Harding County is comprised of 2,125 square miles with a population of 774 people.

This new facility is the product of long-term joint efforts between EDD, Harding County Economic Development Corporation, Roy Mayor Lee Fluman, Sandia National Laboratories, New Mexico Rural Response Council, Eastern Plains Council of Governments, USDA, New Mexico Manufacturers Extension Program, New Mexico Tourism Department, Harding County Commission and Road Department, Senator Clinton D. Harden, and Representative Brian Moore.

Grants from the USDA and State of New Mexico totaling $340,400 will enable the community to construct the building and purchase equipment. Roy High School’s welding program expects to be influential in training a new, young workforce for jobs at Solano Manufacturing.

The company will provide new jobs and opportunities with livable wages ranging from $8 to $14 per hour.

The Solano facility created five jobs with a Potential growth of 10 or more jobs. ENMR•Plateau Economic Development assisted In the project. ENMR committed $23,500.00 and three computers towards the project.

Harding County Economic & Community Development Corporation Receives Funds From ENMR•Plateau Raymond Mondragon, Director of Area Economic Development presents a check for $10,000.00 to Mayor Lee Fluhman of Roy and other members of the Harding County Economic Development Corporation. Mayor Fluhman also serves as President of the Economic Development Corporation in Roy, NM. The funds are to assist Roy in their mission of Economic Development and diversification for Harding County.
