Allen F. Thompson

1925 - 2012

Allen F. Thompson of Solano, New Mexico, died Thursday, March 15, 2012 at CovenantHospital in Lubbock, Texas. He was 86.Mr. Thompson was a life-long resident of Harding County having been born at Solano on October 24, 1925 to RalphF. and Maggie Elizabeth (Allen) Thompson. He was the oldest of seven children. He began his schooling at Solano andgraduated from Roy High School. He served in the South Pacific with the U.S. Navy during World War II.Allen married Alice O. Crawford in Springer, New Mexico, on November 9, 1947. They lived on the family ranchsouth of Solano. She preceded him in death on July 8, 1989.Mr. Thompson enjoyed his family, gardening, hunting and ranching. He was a member of the United MethodistChurch of Solano. He was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Masonic Lodge, Roy School Board andHarding County Fair Board. He was a past Chairman of the Harding County Republican Party, County Commissionerand a State Representative for Harding County.He is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Joyce and Lee Garman of Cedaredge, Colorado; Janice andGary Favors of Las Cruces, New Mexico; and Irene and Ken Livingston of Lovington, New Mexico; his grandchildren,Ray and wife Lisa Beard, Mark and wife Megan Beard, Brandy and husband Jim Schultz, Kendall Livingston andAndrew Livingston; great- grandchildren, Arika Beard, Austin Beard, Allison Beard, Adam Beard, Michael Schultz,Kenny Livingston, Gage Livingston and Aspen Livingston; a sister, Ida Mae Tuttle and brothers Clarence and DonnaThompson, James Thompson, Fred Thompson and Frank and Patsy Thompson and many cousins, nieces and nephews.Mr. Thompson was preceded in death by his wife, Alice; sister, Margaret Irene Thompson; companion, Ruth Hartley;son-in-law Weldon Beard and great-granddaughter Bella Pearl Beard. An inurnment service will be held at a later date at the Solano Cemetery.
